Last week a friend asked my availability, saying that for their mental health they needed to go for a walk.
The language of mental health has long found its way into our conversations. Many of us have experienced anxiety or depression or we know someone who does. These are our every day experiences. And so the course wants to encourage us to live in the real world and asks how the church can be a hospitable community, offering safety and belonging.
The course seeks understand mental health and mental illness and is structured into eight sessions: 1. Mental Health 2. Mental Illnesses 3. Stigma 4. Recovery 5. Companionship 6. Caregiving 7. Self-Care 8. Reflection. Each session should be about 60 minutes long and is launched by a video that introduces the theme of the session.
We will meet on Zoom and, depending on interest, we may choose a hybrid form with some meeting in person at the church and the rest online.
Please e-mail me your interest in the course, or any questions you may have.
The schedule is as follows (each session begins at 7 pm, first session next week): Oct 21 and 28, Nov 4, 18, 25, Jan 6, 13, and 20. Call or e-mail to register. 604 270 0085 or office[at]oursaviour[dot]ca
